Stretchy Wraps
Stretchy Wrap: These are a fantastic option for that newborn stage up through the first few months. They can work longer, but tend to be the most beneficial in those first months. Many find they begin to lose their support around 15-20lbs. Weight maximums vary by brand and your comfort level with vary by brand as well.
Hybrids
These carriers typically provide a lot of the soft, cozy snuggles that many love from a stretchy wrap with a bit more of the ease you might find in a buckle carrier. They tend to remain supportive a bit longer, but most offer front wearing only (like a stretchy wrap.)

Ring Slings

Getting the best option for you.
There is no one carrier that is perfect for every single person.
Your needs are going to vary depending on what you plan to do with your carrier, your body type, potential injuries, etc. Some carriers will feel fantastic on a friend or sibling’s body and make you incredibly uncomfortable. Most reputable brands will offer returns but be aware that tags may need to remain on the carrier for a full refund. If possible, test out a few options before buying. Otherwise, get information from those with similar goals and body types.
A couple quick tips:
Apron style carriers like the Hope and Plum Lark or the Wildbird Aerial carrier often work better on short torsos. They tend to work on most body types, but those with shorter torsos really tend to agree that it’s a better fit compared to the more common “waterfall” style waistband.
If you plan to be around water frequently, check out water carriers like the Amphibababy.
Consider pain points- if you have neck problems, consider something that takes pressure off your shoulders.
