My Honest Review of the BC Babycare Hexa and CocoonGo Carriers

When BC Babycare reached out, I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to try their carriers.
As someone who has tested countless options over the years, I’ve learned that not
every one delivers on both comfort and safety. But after spending real time with the
Hexa and the CocoonGo (their newborn carrier), I came away genuinely impressed by
the thoughtful design and quality. Here’s my honest take on each.

The CocoonGo (Newborn Carrier): Cozy and Supportive Once Baby Is a Bit Bigger

I want to start with the CocoonGo, because I absolutely loved it once my baby was
older — especially from 10.5 months and into toddlerhood. The panel height and
width felt generous, the fabric was soft, and the overall design gave us a really cozy,
secure carry. It quickly became one of those “surprise favorites” I reached for again
and again.

Newborn Caveats

Even though the CocoonGo is marketed as a newborn carrier, I don’t recommend it
for brand-new babies in their first weeks. One thing to consider is that on slim
bodies like mine (US size 0–2), the waistband doesn’t tighten enough to raise the
carrier high for a snug fit. The panel is also tall and roomy, which can overwhelm
smaller babies.

A Safer Stage to Begin

Using a demo doll for testing, I feel that the CocoonGo becomes a solid fit starting
around 4–6 weeks (closer to 10+ pounds for the average baby). That’s when parents
are more likely to achieve a snug, secure fit. At that stage, here’s what to check:
☑️ Baby is seated fully inside the panel with legs free and naturally spread.

☑️ Panel height reaches no higher than mid-ear, keeping the face and airways clear.

☑️ The carrier feels snug and supportive, especially around the base of the neck.

From there forward, the CocoonGo transitions beautifully into an older baby and
toddler carrier — which is exactly where I loved it most.

The Hexa: Breathable, Supportive, and Surprisingly Versatile

The Hexa is a breathable mesh carrier with a built-in hip seat that can be used on its
own or paired with the structured panel. I found it far more supportive than most hip
seats I’ve tried in the past. The seat itself is wider than many competitors and has a
nice slope, encouraging baby to lean in toward the wearer instead of tipping forward.

Real-Life Test Run

I gave the Hexa a full-day trial on a family boat trip. On the boat, I used it as a hip
seat so my little one could comfortably wear a life jacket while still supported. Later, I
switched between inward-facing on the front, back carrying, and even outward-facing.
That versatility stood out — especially since the panel can fold down so fabric doesn’t
sit in baby’s face when outward-facing.

Comfort and Support

The Hexa’s wide padded straps, dual C-shape back support, magnetic buckles, and
breathable mesh all added up to a comfortable carry. Like most hip seats, it can put
more pressure on the pelvic floor with extended use, and after long periods the seat
dug into my back slightly. Back carrying was possible (though a little tricky to get
into), and once adjusted it worked well.

Overall, I was impressed with the Hexa’s design. It’s one of the better outward-facing
options I’ve seen, and the hip seat feels far more thoughtful than most on the market.

Final Thoughts

Both carriers reflect BC Babycare’s motto of “Redesign for Love.”
The CocoonGo is marketed as their newborn carrier, but in my experience it really
shines once baby is past the first weeks. I think it becomes a solid fit from around 4–6
weeks (closer to 10+ lbs), and I personally loved it most at the older baby and toddler
stage.

The Hexa stands out as a versatile, breathable option with a well-designed hip seat,
perfect for families who want flexibility as their baby grows.

If you’re looking for a soft, cozy carrier that grows with your baby once they’re a
little bigger, the CocoonGo is a strong choice. If you want a breathable, structured
option with multiple modes — including outward-facing and hip seat support — the
Hexa is worth considering.
